The 40 top students are honored by having their pictures included in the special display board in main office. (This award and the rules for it are determined by Millikan’s Leadership Team). The Top 40 students receive a President’s Award for Educational Achievement at Senior Recognition Night.

4.0 AWARD

In the spring of 2000, a committee of administrators and counselors met and decided to end the valedictorian and salutatorian awards in order to align Millikan with other Long Beach schools as well as schools in neighboring districts.  All full-time Millikan seniors who have earned an unweighted 4.0 GPA for all four years of high school will be recognized.  A plaque will be presented to the student(s) at Senior Recognition Night.  Students are further honored by wearing a gold robe, gold tassel and gold stole at graduation. Their names are also listed in the Commencement Program.

HALL OF FAME
The honor of being chosen for the Hall of Fame is an admirable goal for which every student may strive. The Hall of Fame is the highest form of recognition that Millikan offers. Criteria for the award include a total evaluation of a student's four years of contributions and involvement at Millikan. Academic, athletic, awards/honors, community service, fine arts and on-campus activities are included in the evaluation. Nominations are made by all faculty members and administrators.  In recognition, those chosen will have their portraits permanently enshrined in Millikan's Hall of Fame and they will be presented with a plaque as they are honored at the graduation ceremony.
