Leadership Opportunities

PEACE's Introduction to Social Justice class makes PEACE 9th Grade unique.

Are you interested in looking at justice with a critical eye in terms of the distribution of wealth, opportunities and privileges in society?  PEACE's social justice class is ideal for you.

9th Grade Project

Students will focus on the social justice topic of homelessness. This project will take place in math, Social Justice, English and science as well as outside of the classroom. As part of the PEACE 9th grade project on homelessness, students will research marketing techniques and create a print ad or public service announcement to help collect hygiene kits for the Bethune Transitional Center in Long Beach. In addition, students will volunteer at least one hour serving those experiencing homelessness and create a presentation on their experience. Important Dates and Details To Be Announced in Class.

    • Skills Mastery Foci: Argumentative Writing (support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence.)  & Collaborative Conversations.
  • Quarter 3: Write an UCLA Mobile Clinic Action Plan
    • Skills Mastery Foci:Time Management; develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach, focusing on addressing what is most significant for a specific purpose and audience.

Service Learning

STAMP Sheet and Events

Students are required to attend at least six events during their freshmen year.  As a record for attendance, students will collect Stamps on their stamp sheet. Events will include PEACE sponsored events such as the Fall Annual Mixer, Spring Celebration Event, various sporting events as well as school sponsored events such as our homecoming game and theater productions. PEACE Annual Mixer- December 15, 2017

The Annual PEACE Mixer event is organized by the PEACE Peer Leaders to help freshmen get to know the upper classmen in the academy.
