Choral Ensembles

The Choral Ensembles provide a wide variety of experiences and challenges for the beginning, intermediate and experienced singers.  Different Choral Ensembles participate in numerous concerts, competitions and events within the community throughout the school year.  Also, numerous students participate in the Spring Musical produced each year combining the Choral, Theater, Dance, Instrumental Music and Stage Crew programs.

The various classes for the Choral Ensembles are listed below starting with more beginning singers to more advanced performers.

Choraliers

The Choraliers is composed of Freshmen females only. This group performs music selected from many periods and styles arranged for soprano, second soprano and alto voices. Students develop their singing voices and increase their ability to sing in harmony.  Participation in Choraliers prepares students for more advanced choral groups.

 

 Varsity Chorale

The Varsity Chorale is composed of Freshman and Sophomore males only.  This group performs music selected from many periods and styles arranged for tenor, baritone and bass voices. Students develop their singing voices and increase their ability to sing in harmony.  Participation in Varsity Chorale prepares students for more advanced choral groups.

 

 Cecilian Singers

Students in Cecilian Singers perform intermediate choral literature written for treble voices.  The group primarily consists of Sophomore, Junior and Senior females with prior choir experience at the high school level.

 

 Concert Choir

Concert Choir is a Mixed Choir - male and female - for more experienced singers.  Students in this group perform more challenging forms and styles of music, and refine their ensemble singing skills. One of the many skills learned is the ability to sight-read up to six part choral music. This is also a requirement for Vocal Ensemble.

 

Vocal Ensemble

Vocal Ensemble is a small, select group of the most experienced sings who perform advanced in a wide range of styles and forms from renaissance madrigals to pop and jazz.  This outstanding choirs performs regularly throughout the school year and competes in the spring with other performance groups in Southern California. Open by audition only.

Each year, Vocal Ensemble has taken a trip to San Francisco to compete with the best high schools, city colleges and state colleges from the west coast.
